Milton has officially made landfall as a category 3 storm in Siesta Key, near Sarasota, Florida.

STAY SAFE!

After rapidly intensifying into a Category 5 hurricane on Monday, October 7, 2024, and then slightly weakening to a Category 3 before making landfall days later on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, Milton has become the perfect example of how unpredictable mother nature can be.

Milton rapidly intensified from a tropical storm to a Category 5 hurricane in a 48-hour time frame. Its path kept shifting and it spawned multiple tornadoes even before making landfall.

Milton is predicted to remain a hurricane as it crosses through Central Florida from the state’s West Coast.

Damage reports are already coming in with reporters at a loss for words.

The threat this storm poses is real.

Sustained winds are currently 115 MPH with gusts in the mid 100’s blowing through. Combined with heavy rainfall and the possibility of tornadoes, Milton is making its presence felt.

There are both confirmed and unconfirmed reports of tornadoes coming in.  With tornadoes, you want to stay away from doors and windows.

Storm surge is reaching over 8 feet in Sarasota.  As far south as Naples, residents are already feeling the effects of the storm surge.

Powerful winds are causing intense wave activity, worsening the effects of the storm surge Milton brought with its arrival.

In Central Florida, specifically in the Orlando area, residents are waiting to see what conditions Milton will bring as it approaches.

1 Million+ power outages according to PowerOutage.US.

Total power outages in Florida have already surpassed one million.

FPL has crews standing by to make emergency repairs as soon as it’s safe to do so.

Milton is being felt throughout the state. We will not know the full extent of Hurricane Milton until much later. For now, we all just need to stay safe and hope for the best.

Please stay safe and listen to what local authorities say.
