- Move any undamaged possessions out of the area. Make an inventory of any damaged items, including the purchase date, amount paid, method of payment, and current-day value (if known).
- Hire a water and/or mold remediation company to remove moisture and test for mold.
- Have your insurance policy ready and notify your insurance company of the loss.
- Keep receipts of any costs incurred related to the damages.
- Cooperate with your insurance company, and provide documents as requested.
